Case Study: Oasis Community Learning & AMPYR Distributed Energy
September 16, 2026

Accelerating the Journey to Net Zero with Smarter Solar Data
AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE), a leading investor, owner, and operator of distributed energy assets across the UK and Europe, is enabling Oasis Community Learning to accelerate its journey to net zero by deploying rooftop solar across its estate of academy schools.
ADE has partnered with MeterZ and Metris Energy to create a connected solution that provides real-time visibility of energy generation, consumption and export across the estate.
Oasis Community Learning
Oasis Community Learning is one of the UK’s largest Multi-Academy Trusts, operating primary and secondary schools across the country. The Trust has set an ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
As rooftop solar is rolled out across its estate, maximising onsite consumption means understanding how each installation is performing.
The Challenge
While legacy metering systems can provide visibility of overall solar generation, ADE and Oasis needed a more reliable and consistent metering platform.
Accurate and reliable data was essential. Without this level of granularity, it was difficult to reliably determine each school’s solar consumption for accurate purchase power agreements (PPA) billing and Scope 1 and 2 sustainability reporting.
MeterZ & Metris Partnership
ADE partnered with energy data specialist MeterZ and solar management platform Metris Energy to deliver a connected, end-to-end solution that transforms raw data into actionable insight.
MeterZ designs, surveys and installs metering technology onto existing solar and metering infrastructure, capturing half-hourly generation, import and export data from each site. The data is securely sent via API to Metris Energy, for a consistent flow of information across the portfolio.
Metris provides ADE with a single view of solar performance across the estate, using live MeterZ data to monitor assets, enabling accurate billing and identifying opportunities to maximise yield.
Implementation & Delivery
Phase One: Connect
MeterZ surveyed, installed and commissioned hardware across the first group of Oasis academies, spanning locations from Grimsby to Bristol. The non-intrusive hardware was integrated with existing infrastructure with minimal disruption to academy operations, establishing data feeds into the Metris platform.
Following the successful initial deployment, the solution was expanded across additional sites, extending visibility across the portfolio and establishing a scalable blueprint for future rollout.
This approach enabled ADE to standardise data capture across the portfolio while creating a platform capable of supporting the deployment across the Oasis solar portfolio.
Phase Two: Action
Metris ingested and analysed meter data to support ADE’s asset management team. First, Metris leveraged MeterZ data to provide validated energy volumes that automated PPA billing, eliminating manual intervention and improving revenue reconciliation.
Beyond billing, Metris gave ADE a single, accurate view of generation across the Oasis portfolio. This enabled the team to monitor the commercial performance of individual installations, identify anomalies and underperformance, and investigate issues in real-time.
By using accurate meter data from MeterZ, Metris was able to produce actionable insight for the ADE team.
Results & Impact
By combining MeterZ’s automated, granular energy data with Metris Energy’s solar management and analytics platform, ADE now has a clearer, more connected view of the Oasis solar estate enabling:
100% automated data capture
Improved billing & PPA payments
Real-time solar performance monitoring
Supporting progress towards net zero
